Ayako Midorikawa joined Takashimaya in 1999 and has since overseen sales, store management, and womenswear buying. Midorikawa founded and conceptualised the ‘Incubation Zone’ of Japanese designers at the Shinjuku store for three years from 2007, and in 2011, begin working for Takashimaya’s concept store ‘STYLE & EDIT’. In 2014, Ayako became senior buyer of ‘STYLE & EDIT’ where she purchases the season’s best international and local fashion collections.
