The Woolmark Company is pleased to announce the judging panel for the International Woolmark Prize British Isles Regional Final on July 3 in London. Pooling together esteemed voices from UK publishing, fashion design and retail sectors, the panel will decide which of the nominated designers will go through to the global final for the menswear and womenswear categories.

Launching into its fourth year, the coveted fashion award continues to gain momentum as more partners, retailers and designers align themselves and their brands to help promote outstanding and emerging talent from across the world. The 2015/16 International Woolmark Prize sees the competition extend with the addition of the British Isles as a sixth region.

The British Isles regional final judging panel includes:

  • Roland Mouret, Designer
  • Jason Basmajian, Creative Director of Gieves & Hawkes
  • Dylan Jones, Editor of GQ magazine
  • Sophia Neophitou, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of 10 Magazine
  • Anita Barr, Group Fashion Buying Director at Harvey Nichols
  • Simon Chilvers, Men’s Style Director at Matchesfashion.com
  • Stuart McCullough, Managing Director of The Woolmark Company

Legendary fashion commentator Colin McDowell will take on the role of mentor for the 10 nominees.

One menswear and one womenswear finalist will be selected from each of the six regions around the globe and will receive an AU$50,000 financial contribution towards their next collection as well as an invitation to participate in the international finals.

The six menswear finalists will meet at Pitti Uomo, Florence, in January 2016 and the six womenswear finalists will meet in New York in February 2016. The six regional awards will be held in Shanghai (Asia), Sydney (Australia), London (British Isles), Antwerp (Europe), Dubai (India, Pakistan & Middle East) and New York (USA).

“The prize continues to highlight the most innovative and modern interpretations of Australian wool at the hands of some of our future’s brightest talents,” explains The Woolmark Company Managing Director Stuart McCullough.

“Our esteemed judging panels will once again provide expert advice to guide these young designers at the early stages of their careers. The continued support of some of the most important significant representatives globally cements the importance of the International Woolmark Prize on the world stage.”

“To be serving as the mentor for the first British Isles IWP regional selection panel here in London, currently seen as the very epicentre of young innovative fashion, is very exciting,” commented Colin McDowell. “What better place? What better people than International Woolmark to create this perfect synergy than in the city which the entire world is looking at?”
