Malte Flagstad and Adam El-Zayat Hjorth of the brand TONSURE won over the menswear judges with their varied use of wool and strong design.

“TONSURE have great potential to be a success within the men’s contemporary market,” explains Neil Barrett. “They have used wool in an intelligent and very real way that is desirable for a guy to wear today, bonding wool with neoprene for outerwear. It’s great to work with these emerging designers; this competition provides them with a pedestal to show their talent from around the world and can kick start them to be competitive in the menswear market.”

Womenswear winner Tim Labenda showcased the versatility of the fibre, with luxurious, hand-crafted details. Franca Sozanni explained, “Tim presented glamour with a clear signature. He showed current womenswear design, using wool as a fake fur embellished with crystals. It's exciting to continue to be part of the prize - you have the opportunity to meet a new generation of designers. It's about creativity and here you find new talent.”

Malte Flagstad and Adam El-Zayat Hjorth commented, “We feel amazing. It is super exciting to be part of the final and representing Europe. Even this regional prize will help us move on to the next level. We always use wool and couldn’t do a collection without it.”

“I’m so happy,” enthused Tim Labenda. “I love Merino wool and use it every single season, even in summer. I’m the biggest fan of wool because you can do whatever you want with it.”
