The wait is over for Teatum Jones fans to get their hands on the winning collection that won the London-based womenswear label the 2015/16 International Woolmark Prize.

Nine of the world’s leading boutiques including Boutique 1 (Dubai), Boon the Shop (Seoul), David Jones (Sydney) Harvey Nichols (London), Isetan Mitsukoshi (Tokyo), LECLAIREUR (Paris), mytheresa.com (online), Saks Fifth Avenue (New York) and Verso (Antwerp) have stocked the limited edition collection, celebrating with launch events and dedicated window displays.

Following a global search that nominated 41 emerging womenswear designers from across the world, Teatum Jones was chosen as the winner at a final event staged during New York Fashion Week in February.

The Teatum Jones x Woolmark collection is the label’s debut into Parisian boutique LECLAIREUR.

“Winning the prize means recognition on a global scale both for brand recognition and how we are retailed, giving us the opportunity to be more widely spread and introducing us to new markets such as France and Australia,” explains Catherine Teatum. “We’re not only launching in new markets but we’re doing this in the best stores. These retailers (International Woolmark Prize retail partners) are the most important part of the prize. We get to be present in those markets and talk directly to our consumer, which is amazing for emerging fashion brands.”

Using fine Australian Merino wool for their winning collection, the design duo partnered with a specialist guipure lace mill in France, convincing them to use wool for the first time in a particular way to create innovative and vibrant geometric Merino laces. The designers then developed a stretch wool that feels similar to a scuba suit, upon which they bonded the Merino lace, creating a luxurious lace fabric that performs as a structured tailoring cloth.

“I was blown away by Catherine and Rob’s presentation; their innovative use of Merino wool has resulted in a stunning collection that is truly representative of what British fashion stands for today,” explains Harvey Nichols Fashion Buying Director Anita Barr.

“Seeing their inspiration from the Foxford Woollen mills transform into a contemporary and fashion-forward collection not only showcases the craftsmanship of the designers but also the versatility of Merino wool today. We are extremely proud to be the exclusive UK stockist for Teatum Jones’ winning collection.”
