Dion Lee, 26, was announced the winner of the Australian regional award for the International Woolmark Prize.
The winner was announced after a panel of judges viewed submissions from six of the country’s most talented designers including; Ellery, Carl Kapp, Magdalena Velveska, Christopher Esber and Song for the Mute.
Lee was presented his award by judge and Vogue Australia’s Editor-in-Chief, Edwina McCann and will now go on to represent Australia at the global finals in February at London Fashion Week.
“Dion is the ideal designer ambassador for Australia, I think he has a good chance of winning the overall international competition also which would be a fantastic result for the perception of Australian fashion as a whole and inspiring for future generations of winners.” – Richard Nicoll
